Zombie Borderline Guide — Inspection, Combat & How to Survive Every Night

Zombie Borderline is a quarantine checkpoint survival game on Roblox that blew up in late January 2026. It's not just another zombie shooter — the game splits into two distinct phases: daytime refugee inspection and nighttime zombie combat. Think Papers Please meets zombie survival.

This guide covers the full gameplay loop, every diagnostic tool, the wound identification system, combat strategies, and how to manage your cash economy.

How Zombie Borderline Works

The game runs on a day/night cycle:

Day Phase → Inspect Refugees → Vote on Infections → Night Phase → Fight Zombies → Earn Cash → Repeat

During the day, refugees arrive at your quarantine checkpoint. Your job is to use medical diagnostic tools to figure out who's infected and who's clean. Vote to let clean refugees through and flag infected ones. Get it wrong, and you're letting zombies into the safe zone.

At night, the zombies come. You grab your weapons and fight off waves of undead. Earn cash from kills, spend it on better gear, and survive until morning.

The Inspection System (Day Phase)

This is what makes Zombie Borderline unique. You have four diagnostic tools in your hotbar:

SlotToolWhat It Does
1Diagnostic GuideReference sheet showing all wound types and what they mean. Keep this open while inspecting. 2RontgenX-ray imaging tool for scanning refugees. 3ThermometerChecks body temperature for fever signs. 4X-Ray ScannerScans refugee items. Green-highlighted items are suspicious.

How to Diagnose Refugees

Open your Diagnostic Guide (slot 1) to see the wound identification chart. When you X-ray a refugee, you'll see one of these results:

Wound TypeVerdictWhat It Looks Like
Bite Mark🔴 INFECTEDVisible teeth marks. Clear zombie bite. No question. Scratch (Dark Veins)🔴 INFECTEDDark veins spreading from the wound. Advanced stage infection. Bruise Pattern🟡 SUSPICIOUSDeep scratches. Possible zombie contact but not confirmed. Red Spots🟡 SUSPICIOUSUnusual bruising. Could be from a struggle with infected. Chest Slash🟡 SUSPICIOUSSmall cuts only. Low infection risk but worth monitoring. Old Scar🟢 CLEANNo wounds detected. Healthy condition. Let them through.
Other infection signs:
  • Coughing → Refugee is SUSPICIOUS (use other tools to confirm)
  • Green items in X-Ray scan → SUSPICIOUS (items may be contaminated)

  • Voting System

After inspecting a refugee, you vote:

  • Vote INFECTED → Flag them for quarantine/removal
  • Let them through → They enter the safe zone

  • Getting it right earns you trust and keeps the checkpoint safe. Letting an infected refugee through means trouble during the night phase.

    Combat System (Night Phase)

When night falls, zombies attack the checkpoint. The game shifts to first-person combat.

    Starting Weapons

You begin with a spiked baseball bat (nail bat) in slot 5 — a melee weapon that gets the job done early but won't carry you forever.

    Buying Better Weapons

A vendor tent appears with weapon packs. The Starter Pack includes a Shotgun + Ammo. As you earn more cash, better weapons become available.

    Combat Tips

  • Zombies are labeled as "Infested Refugees" — these are the ones that got through inspection or broke out
  • Each kill gives you +30 Cash
  • Clear all zombies in a wave to get the "ALL ZOMBIES ELIMINATED!" banner and move to the next day
  • Watch your health bar (top-right of screen)

  • Night combat with the spiked baseball bat
